The West Virginia Quilt Festival
The 2025 WV Quilt Festival will be at Cedar Lakes in Ripley WV
September 11 - 13, 2025 Sponsored by: Bolts and Quarters Quilt Shop Renee's Fabric & Gift Shop QUILT FESTIVAL 2025 GENERAL INFORMATION President's Message
My first introduction to WVQI was the Quilt Festival. I loved the atmosphere, the quilters, the quilts, the vendors, everything…I was hooked. I spent a few years learning everything I could about the show and then several years as the Festival chair. Now I am in charge of the Judging Room, as well as being the Guild’s president for this year. By necessity we had to move the Festival and it will look a little different this year. While some changes may give us pause, we are excited about these changes…new categories, new booths, new awards, a fresh look, and more. Come check us out and let us know what you think. Give us your feedback. It is your state guild, and we want to know what you want and hope for us all. We are growing and changing. If you would like to help, become involved, or volunteer, please contact me. I would love to come to any of your guild or group meetings to meet you and talk about the Festival and/or state guild. We are always looking for fresh faces, new energy, and innovative ideas for our state guild. If you are interested, contact me, or show up at a meeting. Documentation Project
You are invited to participate in the West Virginia Quilt Documentation to be held in the Vocational Building each day of the Festival. The West Virginia Quilt Documentation Project gathers information on quilts that were made in or that currently “reside” in West Virginia.
If you would like to volunteer to help and learn about the process, please contact Roberta Gellner. If you have a quilt to be documented, make an appointment with Roberta, and a team of volunteers will measure, photograph, date, and identify the quilt pattern. It takes 30-40 minutes to have your quilt documented, and you can either stay and watch the process (highly recommended) or take in the quilt show (also highly recommended!)
Bring information and pictures of the quiltmaker, if available; “maker unknown” quilts are also welcomed. Data gathered will be stored in the WV Culture Center Archives, and will be uploaded to the Quilt Index (www.quiltindex.org). Information about quilt ownership will remain confidential.
